Terms of Service

DandyTale is designed to be used by a parent or legal guardian ("you") on behalf of the children in your family. You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account. Children do not create their own accounts, enter payment information, or sign up directly — an adult account holder does that on their behalf, and children experience the finished stories together with a parent or guardian.

Account sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Let us know right away at [support email] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

DandyTale offers a one-time à la carte purchase and several monthly subscription plans, described on our Pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. You can manage or cancel your plan at any time from your Account page. An upgrade to a higher-priced plan takes effect immediately; a downgrade or cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep your current plan's book allowance until then. Except where required by law, payments already made are non-refundable, including for a partially used billing period.

When you build a character and choose a story recipe, we use that information to generate a story and its illustrations using third-party AI models (see Privacy Policy for which ones). You keep the right to what you create through DandyTale, and you grant us the right to store, process, and display it back to you as part of providing the service.

AI-generated stories and pictures are not reviewed by a person before they're shown to you. They can occasionally come out wrong, odd, or not quite what you asked for. Please read a story yourself before sharing it with a child if that matters to you.

You agree not to use DandyTale to:

• Create characters, story ingredients, or other input intended to produce illegal, hateful, or sexually explicit content;
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other accounts;
• Resell or redistribute access to DandyTale without our permission.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms.

DandyTale is built on several third-party services, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy: Clerk (accounts), Stripe (payments), Anthropic and Google (AI story and image generation), and Neon and Vercel (hosting and storage). See our Privacy Policy for details on what each one receives.

DandyTale is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pannullo LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continuing to use DandyTale after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
